I became fascinated with abstract art and the many ways to produce it. Pouring inks and acrylics became my medium for several years but I knew I was not yet done searching. As we’ve all been told, you have to go through certain things before finding your way. I enjoyed pouring inks and acrylics very much. Loved the colors and movement of the medium and took it as far as I could. Then I took my trip to North Carolina in November of 2015 and my world changed. After taking lessons of what I found to be an exciting new medium in NC at the end of 2015, I knew my new direction. Once home from NC I couldn’t wait to begin my new work. I am now producing work created by mixing oils and cold wax. It’s like working with whipped cream cake frostings since that’s exactly the consistency of the medium. I work on both 300 lb. oil paper as well as artist board. On occasion I use Yupo paper since it holds the consistency of the work very well.

BIO

I’ve always lived along the east coast, near the water in NY, Maine, and now, CT. The beach has always been appealing to me, the sea, the sand, and its’ wonderful grasses have become my passion. It must have to do with being a “Pisces”. I’ve taken photos from car windows, motor homes on the move, and trains while traveling the coastline from North Carolina to Prince Edward Island in Nova Scotia. I’ve created many landscapes, seascapes and still life oil paintings for over 10 years and I owe it to the lure of Maine’s natural beauty that inspired me to begin my oil painting career. The natural beauty of Maine’s various land and seascapes captured my art interest and before I knew it, I was selling my work at art shows in Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, and Bangor. Upon my return to this area, my oils lay dormant for more than ten years.

Basically self-taught, I was fortunate to spend a little time with Bob Kozora, a remarkable artist. I owe much to his teaching talents, and I will forever be grateful for the time spent under his watchful eye. I’m an Elected Artist at The Mystic Art Center and also an Associate Member of the Maple and Main Gallery in Chester, CT.

I’ve been a member of the South County Art Association and The Pickford Art Association. I became an Artist Member at the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly almost twelve years ago. It’s been one of the most pleasant affiliations of my life. The artists I’ve met and worked with have all helped me appreciate what art is all about. It’s about the people making it.

At the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly, I’ve been part of many active committees, twice co-chaired the Silent Auction, was chair of the Associates Artist, the Annual Appeal, the Nominating committee and I’ve chaired the last seven Regional Shows. I really enjoy sitting in our gallery greeting visitors and discussing everyone’s art. I’m and feel proud each time I walk through the door. I’ve been awarded the People’s Choice Award twice and more recently was awarded Best in Show at the All Members’ Exhibit at ACGOW. In the fall of 2014, I was awarded 2nd place in a National Art Show sponsored by The Connecticut Women Artists at the Slater Museum in Norwich, CT. I enjoy kayaking, gardening, my dogs, walking, and being an artist. I reside in Pawcatuck, CT with my husband Bill and my two dogs, Ruby and Sadie, both rescues from down South. I’m mom to Bryan, mother-in-law to Colleen, and Grammy to Chloe and Sasha. Life couldn’t be better.  Learn more
